CURRENT AFFAIRS: Kanu Nwankwo Celebrates 39th Birthday Today

Nwankwo Kanu, OON (born 1 August 1976), or simply Kanu, is a retired Nigerian footballer who played as a striker. He was a member of and later captained the Nigerian national team for 16 years from 1994 until 2010. Kanu is a member of the Igbo ethnic group; his name, Nwankwo, means Child born on Nkwo market day in the Igbo language.

Popular actress, Gloria Young, is currently not a happy customer. The iconic actress was recently spotted at a bank where she created a scene and it definitely was not for a movie. Saturday Beats learnt that the actress caused commotion at the bank after it failed to refund her N20,000 which was debited since December. When Saturday Beats reached out to the actress via the telephone, she explained why she blew a fuse in the banking hall.

Dionne Warwick is threatening to boycott Bobbi Kristina Brown’s funeral because of a bitter disagreement over plans drawn up by Bobbi Kristina’s aunt, Pat Houston.

After the National Universities Commission (NUC) asked Nigerians not to patronize Maryam Abacha American University of Niger, the university on its website has replied the commission saying they are only out to black mail them and could be due to jealousy of the young but fast growing institute.
