POLITICS: Governor Adams Oshiomole Accuses President Jonathan of Abandoning EDO State

The Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, has said that the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, President Goodluck Jonathan, will not secure the votes of the people of the state in next month’s presidential election due to what he described as the abandonment of the state. Oshiomhole argued that President Jonathan did not fulfil his promise to contribute to the development of the South-South state, despite enjoying 95 per cent of votes of Edo people for his re-election in 2011.

POLITICS: Lagos Governor Fashola Accuses PRESIDENT Of Diverting SURE-P Money


Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State, yesterday, accused the Federal Government of diverting Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme, SURE-P, money for the funding of the campaigns of President Gooodluck Jonathan. Fashola made the allegation at the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign rally in Badagry area of the state. The governor, who took a swipe at the Federal Government for disappointing Nigerians, added: “The money they took for Sure-P is in Sure Pocket, that’s what Sure-P means.

CURRENT AFFAIRS: Federal Govt of Nigeria is planning to ban pornographic Websites in Nigeria


The Nigerian government has said that it is planning to introduce a law banning all pornographic websites in the country. This was disclosed by the National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki on Sunday, January 25, in Kaduna. Dasuki revealed this at the closing ceremony of a three-day workshop on use of social media organized for Islamic preachers, Imams and youths in the state. The NSA, who was represented by the Minister of Special Duties, Kabiru Turaki, said:

President Goodluck Jonathan worshipped at Bishop David Oyedepo's Winners Chapel, Canaanland, Otta today. Other worshipers present at the church claim the influential pastor said he will open the gate of hell on those who oppose the President. Meanwhile, Jonathan in a brief speech at the service admitted that the country was going through some challenges but noted that the situation would have been worse but for prayers of Nigerians.

POLITICS: American Government Has Advised Nigeria not to Postpone 2015 Election

The United States has advised Nigeria against postponing the general elections scheduled for next month. The US Secretary of State, Mr. John Kerry, gave the advice after he met the candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party, President Goodluck Jonathan and All Progressives Congress Maj. Gen. Muhamadu Buhari (retd.) in Lagos on Sunday. Kerry said that the US would deny entry visa to any Nigerian politician responsible for fomenting violence during the February elections.
