…Famous Ghanaian poet KOFI AWOONOR among those killed in Kenya Mall Attack….

..Nigerian Government Pledges to Help Fight Terrorism in KENYA….

Ghanaian poet and diplomat Kofi Awoonor, (pictured left) was among the 59 killed during the attack on Westgate Mall in Kenya yesterday. He was in Nairobi as a participant in the Storymoja Hay Festival, a 4-day celebration of writing, thinking and storytelling. The Ghanaian govt confirmed his death early Sunday morning. He was 78 years old. His son was also shot, but was not killed.
Also the president's nephew, Mbugua and his fiance Wahito (both pictured right) were killed in the attack yesterday.

Over 1,000 people have so far been evacuated from the mall, but an unknown number of hostages are still trapped inside with the terrorists believed to be about 15. Kenyan security forces have been locked in a standoff with gunmen since yesterday. Gun shots have been heard all morning in the area.

Heavily armed Islamic extremists pulled up in several cars yesterday and shot their way into the most upmarket shopping centre in Nairobi, ordering Muslims out if they could prove their religion by reciting a prayer or answering a question on Islam. They started killing those who failed the test.

BBC reported that at least one of the attackers was a woman who had some kind of leadership role.

MEANWHILE, President Goodluck Jonathan on Sunday in Abuja said Nigeria would give support and render assistance to Kenya in its efforts to curtail the scourge of terrorism. This is contained in a statement issued by his
spokesman, Dr Reuben Abati, condemning
Saturday’s terrorists’ attack on a Nairobi shopping mall in Kenya. According to the statement, the attack on the
Westgate Mall in Nairobi by terrorists suspected to be of the Al-Shabab sect reportedly left about 59 people dead. Most of those killed in the attack, the statement added, were women and children, while more than 150 were reportedly injured. President Jonathan, according to the statement, said the assistance was in line with the spirit of recent agreements for enhanced bilateral co- operation between both countries. “Nigeria will assist Kenya to avoid a recurrence of the heinous attack,’’ it said. The statement said Jonathan also extended heartfelt condolences to President Uhuru Kenyatta and all Kenyans over the loss of lives in Saturday’s terrorists’ attack. It added that President Jonathan and Nigeria joined
the rest of the world in condemning “the atrocious, callous and abominable attack on defenceless Kenyans and foreign nationals’’. The statement said Jonathan assured Kenyatta and the people of Kenya of Nigeria’s full solidarity as they grapple with the attack’s consequences and strive to end the terrorist siege. “The President prays that God Almighty will comfort all those who lost their loved ones in the attack and grant the injured speedy recovery,’’ it said.

….Struggling Musician BLACKFACE Gets Endorsement Deal Worth Millions of Naira…

…Signs N52M Record Deal With Franchise Events Limited …

A few days after his celebrated war with his former band mate and friend, Tuface Idibia, fortune has smiled on Blackface as he has signed a N52 million deal with Franchise Events Limited.

The deal which also includes a car and a house sees Blackface become the record label’s biggest name. The former Plantazhun Boyz co-founder can now rest and let his bosom friend Tuface rest after the brouhaha about not being paid royalty for the ‘African Queen’ he claimed he wrote.

The song gave Tuface the perfect platform for his meteoric rise in the music industry and Blackface has not forgiven Tuface, letting the whole world know he has been wronged by 2Baba. Added to that was the issue of Tuface’s wedding in Dubai where Blackface said he was not invited. But last week, Tuface said in an interview that he had invited his former stable mate but he refused to come. Trust Blackface, he responded immediately, saying he was not invited. He also used the opportunity to tell Tuface to pay him the royalty.

In a chat with pulse.ng on the deal, Franchise Events Limited spokesperson said they decided to settle for Blackface because of his versatility, staying power in the music industry and his brand of music.,

Congrats to him

“Genevieve Nnaji is not my Lesbian Lover ---Ella Martins

“Genevieve Nnaji is not my Lesbian Lover”

“I’m a Lady, I Have Not Had SEX with Genevieve Nnaji”

“Although we stayed under the same roof, we slept in different rooms”

….Benin Republic actress, Ella Martins Clears the air….

It happened that some soft-sell magazines before now had reported that, Genevieve Nnaji and her Benin Republic actress, Ella Martins friend were lesbians and partners in the act.  Ella recently reacted to this, and reviewed to Gossippme blog that such a thing never happened between them. Her words;

Genevieve is a very good friend of mine...we met way back in 2004 and we have been good friends since then. The story that we are lovers must have come from another female friend of hers. I am saying this because since 2004, there have been no such lesbian stories but suddenly it sprung up.
Towards the end of last year, I came to Nigeria and I stayed with Genevieve. Although we stayed under the same roof, we slept in different rooms.

There was a time during my visit that we both went to see a friend in a hotel in Lekki and people saw us going in. We later went clubbing that night with the friend and which I think is a normal thing for girls to club if they want to. But that was when the rumours got worse, that we went into the hotel to sleep with each other!!!

She said it’s not the first time the Press would label her a lesbian but she has developed a thick skin and so it doesn’t bother her because she knows she is not a lesbian!

 Genevieve and I have known each other since 2004 and she really is a nice person if you get to know her. We talk on phone a lot and we discuss life's issues like normal girls do...she is a wonderful person.
I guess it’s because she is a famous person that some undesirable elements want to tarnish her image...and mine too. The Press make things worse too. There was a time I performed with Tony Tetuila and there were rumours after then that we were dating. But I just want to emphasize here that Genevieve and I are not in any form of sexual relationship, we are just good friends.

…Mercy Aigbe Says She Can Buy A N5 million Hand Bag If She Likes It…

 A Yoruba actress Toyin spent N550,000 on Mongolian hair recently. Another Yoruba actress says she can spend millions only on hand bag. Punch Newspapers published an interview of Mercy Aigbe, and she was asked if she could buy a hand bag for N5 million. She didn't want to say yes straight away, but she managed to say it when she answered the reporter’s question. "I love fashion. One thing about fashion is that when you see something you like, if you don’t buy it, you’ll not have peace of mind till you get it, no matter the cost.''.
See the question and her answer below;

Can you buy a handbag for N5million ?

I don’t know. I cannot say the amount I can spend on an item. I love fashion. One thing about fashion is that when you see something you like, if you don’t buy it, you’ll not have peace of mind till you get it, no matter the cost. That is the kind of person I am, and that is why I cannot say how much I can spend on an item. Most times when I see things I like and I have the money, I buy. I am working hard and making my money. If it makes me happy, why not get it? We only have a life to live. At the same time, I also know that there are people that I can reach out to and put a smile on their faces. So what I do is find a way to balance both.

You must make concerted effort to do away with the inherent fear in every person. Have trust in yourself and learn to see the good side of people and pay compliment when necessary.

It is a fact that we do not all possess self-confidence from birth, but there are several ways to acquire it. There are many factors that can militate against self-confidence, prominent among them is environment and inheritance.

The following tips will help in developing self-confidence:

2. Make effort to observe how others carry themselves and notice how confident they act. Choose for yourself a role model and make reference to them as you plan to acquire the same confidence as they have. Do not just observe, apply it for yourself.
