…Native Doctor Opens His Own University in IMO STATE

…Poses As Vice-chancellor

The quest to acquire education at all cost has lured more than 5,000 students into the net of a self-styled medical practitioner and leader of a criminal gang that specialises in extorting money from unsuspecting candidates seeking admission into higher institutions. The suspect, Fidelis Chukwujindu was apprehended by the police while conducting common entrance examination for the victims who reportedly purchased the admission forms at N8, 000 each.

Chukwujindu, who was later discovered to be a native doctor, was eventually nabbed at the premises of his non-existent College Hospital which has the sign post “University College Hospital Ogboko, Ideato, P.O.Box 1960, Orlu, Imo State. Also written on the signpost, which was conspicuously mounted by the roadside, is, “Present Courses: B.Sc, Nursing, Health Sciences, Education Humanities, Medical LAB Sciences. Admissions Are Still Going On. Govt. Approved. Call: 08064082750.”

The operator of the illegal college attracted students by printing flyers which he distributes to churches across the country, as most of the students claimed they came to know about the school through their pastors. But a visit to the site makes one wonder how a sane person could possibly fall for such a scam. The administrative office has just a single desk. The accused, who made several claims to buttress his competence of running the ‘college,’ which is sited opposite the proposed site of the Imo State University and adjacent to Rochas Foundation College, said he was an acclaimed Americantrained medical doctor.

He was, however, found to be a native doctor. He said that he had the permission of the State Government and Federal Ministry of education to run his non-existent college hospital. He also claimed to be a product of the prestigious Harvard University, America. According to the suspect, “I won a Federal Government scholarship to study abroad, but was incapacitated by an accident which disfigured one of my legs and I was flown back to Nigeria where I later decided to set up the college.

We were just conducting entrance examination in preparation to take off in a month’s time when the police swopped on us.” He told newsmen at Ogboko that to open such an institution does not require the approval National University Commission, NUC. “It is just how you manage the school that matters, not NUC or any other regulatory body. Moreover, this is a college and not a University and as such I did not obtain approval from the NUC. I went to the Federal Ministry of Education, Abuja, severally where I obtained approval and it is affiliated to the University of London,” he maintained.

Assisting the suspect, who claimed to be the vice –chancellor of the university college hospital, was a middle aged woman later identified as Ngozi Ayoha. The woman, who initially said she was deaf and dumb, caused a stir when it was found that she was the Dean of Faculty of Medicine of the illegal college.

But when the duped ‘students’ revealed that she was pretending, she decided to open up. She said that she was a drop out from a School of Nursing and that the owner of the illegal college was training her to complete her nursing profession.

It was learnt that the woman asks calls and attends to students who come to seek admission into the college. Some of the swindled ‘students’ told Saturday Mirror that they were lured into believing that the school was approved by the various information the owner of the illegal school passed to them. Judith Kanu of Ndiogbuonyeoma Uno, Arondizuogu in Ideato North LGA of Imo State said she got to know about the school through her pastor who gave her one of the flyers.

“When I got to the place I was told that the school is accredited by NUC and that it is also affiliated to a university in London. But we were surprised when the police surrounded the premises when we were taking the entrance examination,” she said. Judith, who applied to read laboratory sciences, had intended pursuing Medicine as her first choice and Pharmacy as second choice.

According to her she had always dreamt of being a medical doctor. Also speaking, Favour Nwabue of 8, Oni Street, New Benin, Edo State, who said she is from Ihiala LGA, Anambra State said her intended course of study was Nursing and that she chose the course to “serve the masses.” Parading the suspect with his victims before newsmen, the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Muhammad Katsina, explained that one striking thing about the strategy of the gang was that they carefully selected the site opposite the Imo State University, Ogboko, and adjacent to the Rochas Foundation College, Ogboko, to convince their victims of the genuineness of their business.

“This is a primitive catalogue of illegality by a self-acclaimed medical doctor who dubiously paraded himself as a product the prestigious Harvard University, America, but who is nothing but a native doctor. And more than 5,000 people from various parts of the country in search of education have been swindled by this young man”.

Do You Agree With This Research?

Men with small testicles are likely to be more nurturing and better fathers to their children.
A new study from Emory University finds that men who tend to be a loving parent also have smaller testicles. The research, released in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, involved 70 men of varying ethnicities — most were Caucasian, five were Asian and 15 were African-American – with at least one child under two years old.

Prior studies have suggested that decreases in testosterone may suppress mating efforts, which potentially channels a man’s energy toward the care of infants and make these men more empathetic.
“Our data suggest that the biology of human males reflects a trade-off between mating and parenting effort,” says Emory anthropologist and study lead author James Rilling,

…Legendry Rapper, 2PAC SHAKUR Died On This Day September 13, 1996…

“ I Cried and Cried When I Heard That 2PAC is Dead”

(A Special Tribute Written & Edited by ENDY EDESON)

If you love rap music, then 2PAC Shakur should be one of your favorite rap kings. I ENDY EDESON grew up listening to lots of classic and rap songs back in the 90’s. Viscious, Colio, Dr Dre, Ice Cube, Snoop Dogg are some of the rappers that fascinated me back then.
2PAC was also among the HIP-HOP crooners that I love listening to. My favourite 2PAC songs are “Carlifornia”, “Dear Mama” and others.
I was listening to Radio Rivers Port-Harcourt when I heard the demise of the legendary rap king 2PAC. My happy mood changed and I burst in tears. It was not easy for me and other 2PAC fans around the world to bear the irreplaceable loss of the music icon. September 13, 1996 was the day he died of gunshot wounds suffered in Les Vagas drive-by shooting.

More than a decade after his death, he still remains one of the recognizable faces and voices in Hip-Hop. His rival rapper, Christopher Wallace a.k.a Notorious B.I.G and music producer PUFF DADDY were prime suspect of his demise. However, 6 months later 2PAC rival NOTORIOUS B.I.G was murdered in similar circumstances in Los Angeles.
2PAC Amaru Shakur was born on June 16, 1971. He was an American rapper and actor.
May his soul rest in Peace.

….Exclusive Details of Why Governor CHIBUIKE AMAECHI Was Denied

…The UNTOLD Story…
….Exclusive Details of Why Governor CHIBUIKE AMAECHI Was Denied

Access to Govt House Yesterday….

governor, Rotimi Amaechi, was, on Thursday night, prevented from entering the Government House, as men of the state police command blocked him and several visitors with him from entering through his usual route to his residence.
Governor Amaechi was said to have gone on a tour of projects with some dignitaries who had visited him, mostly former speakers of state houses of assembly and was returning to the Government House at about some minutes past 7.00 p.m.
A source, who was in the governor’s convoy when the incident occurred, said Amaechi and his guests could not access the Forces Avenue route to the back entrance, his usual route to the premises, and discovered that the place had been barricaded by armed policemen.
According to the source, who preferred anonymity, “we were returning from project inspection, Oga (Governor Amaechi) had taken some former speakers of state houses of assembly who are on visit to see some of our projects. But as we returned and got to the entrance, we discovered that policemen had blocked the access.
“Some of the visitors were even begging them to allow the man into his residence, but they refused. This lasted more than 30 minutes, after which we had to turn round to go take the main entrance into 105 (office complex of the Government House).”
Commenting on the development, the state Commissioner for Information and Communications, Ibim Semenitari, condemned it, describing it as height of impunity and most unacceptable to the Rivers State government.
“This is impunity in its worst form, it is unthinkable and the Rivers State government finds it unacceptable.
“It is an affront on democracy, an attack on the office and the person of the governor of Rivers State. It beats all imagination and reason. Rivers State government condemns this,” she said.
When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mrs Angela Angela Agabe, said she had heard of the incident.
She said the police had to barricade Forces Avenue for security reasons, because of the secretariat of the New Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that was opened there today (Thursday) by the Abubakar Kawu Baraje -led faction of PDP in the state.
She said the police had to block the road to ensure there was no breakdown of law and order.
“The governor has other routes to get to the Government House. So, I don’t see how this should be an issue,” Agabe said.
In another development, the opening of the Rivers State secretariat of the new PDP in Port Harcourt, on Monday, was greeted with drama, as men of the state police command stormed the property, sealing it off and pulling the flags down.
Chief of Staff of the Rivers State government, Tony Okocha, had led some members of the party, including local government chairmen and commissioners, to the new office building, declared it open and hoisted flags of the party.
Okocha was just rounding off the hoisting of the flags on six poles, including two national flags, when the deputy commissioner of police in charge of Criminal Investigations Department (CID), Sam Oghaora, entered the compound hosting the secretariat, same building used as the campaign office for the re-election of Governor Rotimi Amaechi, in 2007 and sealed off the property.
Okocha had told journalists and members of the party who were with him at the opening ceremony that the exercise was in compliance with the directive of the national leadership of the New PDP, expressing the hope that the party would start experiencing a renewal in the state.
He also said the emergence of the New PDP was a response to growing impunity and reckless attitude of the leadership in the old PDP, urging all party leaders in the state to start mobilisation of members across all council areas of the state, so as to ensure that the party was finally delivered from undemocratic leadership.
“In strict obedience to the directive of the national Leadership of the new PDP, I hereby open the office of the Rivers State chapter. As I open this new secretariat of our great party, the PDP, I hope that this will usher in fresh air and democratic renewal in our state and nation.
“The new PDP is a national response to the impunity, recklessness and dictatorial tendencies typical of the former leadership of our party. I, therefore, urge the party executive in the state to immediately commence the mobilisation of party men and women to deliver the party from the stranglehold of tyrants.
“I commend the governors of Kano, Jigawa, Sokoto, Adamawa, Kwara, Niger and our indefatigable governor of Rivers State and chairman of Nigeria Governors’ Forum, Amaechi and other adherents for this uncommon display of courage. They are, indeed, heroes of democracy. On Baraje-led national leadership of the PDP we stand,” Okocha said.
The event was, however, disrupted by the arrival of the police, when the leader of the team, Oghaora, ordered policemen from the Old GRA police station to bring down all the flags within the premises.
He said his action followed the call put to his office, adding that he was going to deal with anybody who hoisted flags in the premises of the building as, according to him, there was no secretariat in the building.
“We will not allow anybody to take laws into their hands, we will go all out to ensure that we maintain law and order in this state. Anybody that takes laws into his hands will be dealt with accordingly, that’s exactly what we have done here.
“We don’t have any secretariat here and anybody who has come here to hoist any flag will be dealt with. That’s what we have done and nothing more than that,” Oghaora said.
The situation got a little rougher when some of the policemen ordered to evacuate people around the premises went physical on journalists who were covering the event, breaking the camera of The Sun newspaper’s photographer in the process.
When the Nigeria Tribune went through the neighbourhood of the secretariat some 30 minutes after the drama, not less than 16 police vans were seen around the vicinity, with two blocking the entrance into the compound and several armed policemen on guard.
Meanwhile, when the Nigerian Tribune contacted the Chief of Staff for comment on the development, he said the faction had achieved its aim, which was opening the secretariat.
He, however, pointed out that the action of the police command in the state had further justified the position of the Amaechi-led administration that police in the state had become compromised with politics.

Outrageous!

…Ex-militant TOMPOLO Buys A Private Jet Worth N2.12 Billion…

(Written by a Sahara Reporter)

For those who haven’t heard, 43 year old ex-militant, High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo (aka Tompolo) on Monday 26th August 2013 received his LearJet 60SE produced by Canadian aerospace company Bombardier. The Jet according to aviation sources cost a whopping sum of $13.3 million (N2.12 billion).

The aim of this article is not to rubbish the person of Tompolo, [what is there to rubbish anyway] but to address inter alia; the scenarios that continue to play out in favour of his ilk, institutions and systems that perpetually endeavour to make his likes overnight celebrities. I would also analyse the opportunity cost of his latest toy.

The Man Tompolo
Tompolo was born Government Oweizide Ekpumopolo in 1970 into the family of Chief Thomas Osei Ekpempulo and Mrs Sologha Ekpemupol of Okorenkoko in Gbaramatu kingdom in Warri South-West Local Government Area of present Delta State. He attended Edah Primary School, Madagho and Kunpa Primary School, Kunukunuma before later proceeding to National Comprehensive College, Warri where he completed the SSCE in 1993.

After a brief stint as Managing Director of his father's family business, Tompolo Nigeria Limited, his militancy career began in 1997, during the struggle to ‘liberate’ the Ijaws from the dominance of its neighbours -- the Itsekiris. General Sani Abacha had then relocated Warri South Local Government headquarters from Ogbe-Ijoh to Itsekiri’s Ogidiben and thus, an Ijaw ‘Soldier’ was born.

After the struggle, he relocated to Oporoza due to threats to his life and there, he started the struggle against the oil majors and the federal government for what he perceived as injustice against ‘their land’–usually the rhetoric for Niger Delta militants.

True to his name, Government Ekpumopolo was an authority of some sort. Traditional rulers, local council men, lawmakers, governors differ to him. To show the power Tompolo wields, during the visit of then Vice President Dr. Goodluck Jonathan to his terrorist headquarters at the notorious Camp 5, he instructed all the Vice President’s entourage, security details, and other officials to stay outside the camp, allowing only Dr. Goodluck Jonathan in for ‘consultation’ (I wonder what they must have agreed in secret).

He led several ‘successful’ guerrilla attacks against Shell, almost crippling their production capacity in the Niger Delta. The company had no choice but to start paying some sort of ‘security fees’ to the warlord.

Tompolo started consulting in security matters for the oil companies, the Federal Government and the Joint Task Force to maintain some level of peace. Things got out of hand after his men beheaded 11 military men comprising of 1 officer and 10 rank and file of the Nigerian Army. That development forced the Chairman of the Joint Task Force in the Niger Delta, Brig. Gen. Sarkin Yaki Bello to declare him wanted, dead or alive.

His Entrance Into The Nigerian Billionaires Club
When the late President Musa Yar'adua took oath of Office in May 2007, he promised to bring an end to the Niger Delta insurgency, offering them a state pardon for all their criminal atrocities.

In June 2009 when the implementation of the amnesty programme started, thousands of youth surrendered their arms and ammunitions, with a report stating that Tompolo along with 1,500 militants handed in a cache of weapons that included general purpose machine guns, grenades, rocket propelled grenade launchers, explosives and a large number of assorted weapons.

Unfortunately, President Yar’adua who originated the idea died of some ailment and Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, the Vice President as it then was, took the reins of power.

In what seemed like an opportunity-comes-but-once-so-lets-seize-it-and-settle-the-boys-bigtime-kind-of-contract, the Goodluck administration through NIMASA, headed by Ziadeke Akpobolokemi (said to be Tompolo’s candidate for the NIMASA job), awarded a contract worth $103.4million (N15billion) maritime surveillance contract to Tompolo’s company--Global West Vessel Specialist Limited (GWVSL). The contract stated that GWVSL will provide security for oil pipelines, repel pirates and oil thieves, guard the nation waterways and also (wait for this), COLLECT LEVIES ON BEHALF OF NIMASA. The agency said about N124billion is expected to be generated by GWVSL for the federal government.

In a memo dated 9 November, 2011 with reference number PRES/99/MT/61 and titled Award Of Contract For The Strategic Concessioning Partnership With NIMASA To Provide Platforms For Tracking Ships And Cargoes, Enforce Regulatory Compliance And Surveillance Of The Entire Nigerian Maritime Domain, President Jonathan approved the contract and it was rubber stamped by the Federal Executive council in one of its weekly contract awarding bazaars on 5 January, 2012.

The contract will run for 10 years, though President Jonathan through NIMASA has promised not to renew the contract after the expiration of its present term. But to show how desperate Jonathan was in securing the contract for his friend and personal confidant – Tompolo – he wrote to the National Assembly, withdrawing an earlier similar proposal submitted by his predecessor which sought to create a coast guard comprising of all the security agencies to man the country’s maritime domain. But why should he not, when NIMASA presently pays Tompolo’s GWVSL N49m weekly for vessel hired by the agency?

The Nigerian Debacle

We have heard over and over how the Nigerian system rewards honest labour with hardship and award criminal endeavours with the juicy contracts and patronage which only feather the nest of cronies.

Fellow militants who didn’t labour (killed) as much as Tompolo weren’t rewarded as much. I pity men of the Nigerian Military who daily sacrifice their lives for nothing. I hope Abubakar Shekau will not be given the same ‘heroic’ welcome whenever he leads his comrades-at-arms to accept the amnesty proposals of the Jonathan-administration.

Nigerians must realize that voting for Jonathan come 2015 is a vote for more money in the hands of those who have wronged and robbed Nigerians of our God-given resources.

Despite the huge amount being paid to Tompolo, Nigeria’s Maritime Domain has been less secure. Crude oil theft has reached an all-time high, threatening Nigeria’s income. Coordinating minister of the economy last July, lamented the alarming rate at which Nigeria’s income from oil was being depleted due to oil theft and bunkering. Tompolo’s militant colleague, Asari Dokubo has threatened to destroy Nigeria and march his opponents’ bullet for bullet, bomb for bomb, and missile for missile if Dr. Goodluck Jonathan isn’t re-elected in 2015, because only his stay in office will guarantee Tompolo's business which will in turn guarantee continued oil bunkering and theft in the Niger-Delta.

This is the right time to revoke the Tompolo’s contract. Only a fool employs a man with a history of dubious character (though forgiven) into a position of trust, he will always stay true to who he is.

The Opportunity Cost Of Bombardier 60SE Learjet
Economist define opportunity cost as the alternative forgone. It is the cost of an alternative that must be forgone in order to pursue a certain action. Put another way, it is the benefit you could have received by taking an alternative action. In layman’s terms, opportunity cost is the other product that would rather have satisfied your want.

An Example: If you need a Plasma Television and an iphone; and you divert your limited resources to purchase the iphone, the opportunity cost (i.e. what it is costing you) is a Plasma Television set.

Investopedia cites this vivid example: if a gardener decides to grow carrots, his or her opportunity cost is the alternative crop that might have been grown instead (potatoes, tomatoes, pumpkins, etc.).

In both cases, a choice between two options must be made.

A LearJet 60SE cost $13.3 million (N2.12 billion), a N2.12 billion we could have invested into other productive ventures had the contract not been awarded to Tompolo in the first instant.

The opportunity cost of Tompolo's private Jet are enormous, I have defined what opportunity cost is, please fill up the comment section with your suggestions of public goods we could have purchased with our collective N2.12 billion in the hands of an ex-militant.
