Gunmen Kill Another UNIPORT Student, Ex-corps Member


Two weeks after four students of the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) were killed by a mob in Omuokiri, Aluu, tragedy struck in another host community of the institution as unknown gunmen killed another student of the school, his girlfriend and an ex-member of the National Youth Service Corps.



The incident occurred at Rumuchakara village in Choba community, the major host community of the university.

News making the rounds says American Hip hop rapper, Drake has just graduated from high school at the age of 25 with 88% in the course. 
Drake dropped out of school at the age of 15 to pursue his fame. At the time, he was to co-star on a TV show, Degrassi: The Next Generation, a Canadian TV show. He was studying at Vaughan Road Academy in Canada. Drake made it known through his twitter page and Facebook wall. He wrote, “97% on my final exam. 88% in the course. One of the greatest feelings in my entire life. As of tonight I have graduated high school!”
Drake was named No. 6 on “Forbes”‘s Hip-Hop Cash Kings list, earning $20.5 million from May 2011 to May 2012.

FIFA set to grant free World Cup entry to low income earners

Rio de Janeiro – Football world governing body, FIFA has reportedly accepted a Brazilian government  proposal to offer free entry at the 2014 World Cup to the country’s indigenous population and low income earners.
FIFA’s Secretary General, Jerome Valcke confirmed the request would be met during a conversation with Brazil’s sports minister Aldo Rebelo this week, Estadao reported.

Businessman Ifeanyi Uba granted bail after spending days in Custody


Billionaire businessman and MD of Capital Oil and Gas Ltd, Mr Ifeanyi Uba was on yesterday evening  released from the custody of the Special Fraud Unit after spending 10 days in their cell in Ikoyi. He was arrested on October 9th following accusations of fraud totaling N43billion from the Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede led presidential committee on verification and reconciliation of fuel subsidy payments. The committee discovered gross abuse by many marketers and reported the case to the police.

The vice-president of the Senegalese Football Federation has resigned after crowd trouble forced the abandonment of Saturday’s home tie with Ivory Coast.

Louis Lamotte was match coordinator for the 2013 Nations Cup qualifier, which was called off with the Ivorians leading 2-0 after 74 minutes. “I have to take responsibility for what happened on Saturday given my role as match coordinator,” Lamotte said. “So I have drawn my own conclusions and resigned.”

Nigerian embassy in Berlin attacked with Paint Bomb

The Nigerian Embassy in Berlin was attacked with paint bombs on Wednesday night by unknown persons, the police have said.
According to police spokesman, unknown attackers threw glass bottles filled with a thick and sticky liquid at the front of the building in Neue Jakobstraße, (The name of the street where the embassy is situated).
The spokesman said the police have handed over the investigation of the incident to state security authorities, adding that political motive may not be ruled out in the attack.
