COBHAMS Mother Wins Supermom Celebrity Reality Show:                                                           After thirteen weeks of voting, Gladys Asuquo, mother of the award winning singer, song writer, and producer, Cobhams Asuquo, has emerged winner of Supermom  celebrity reality show. Mrs. Asuquo, a former clerical officer in the Nigerian Army clinched the star prize of N2m after earning the highest votes by fans and followers of the ten finalists.  Fuji music star, Abass Akande Obesere’s mother, Taibat Omobonike, emerged first runner up while Banky W’s Empire Mates Entertainment rapper, Skales’ mother, was second runner up. They both get N1m and N500, 000 cash respectively which would also be donated to a charity of choice and an all-expense paid trip to Dubai. Other runners up are Julius Agwu and Tony Tetuila’s mothers.

Mocheddah Releases New Song entitled, “I’m coming for you”:                                                          As the heat hits all-high feverish pitch for the 2012 Channel O awards, fans of Mo’Cheddah have begun a hot campaign to make sure the diva clinches ‘Most Gifted Female Video of the Year’ with her no-holds-bare video ‘See me’ featuring Phenom.  Some observers have said there is “hardly a place to turn on social media these days without fans of the songstress knocking your senses senseless with cries for votes for her” And only some hours ago, her new single “I am Coming for you” was released and it has since taken over the airwaves, winning accolades from various quarters.

Kano Pillars Wins 2012 Nigeria Premier League:                                                                                     Kano Pillars have won the 2012 Nigeria Premier League after Ocean Boys were expelled from the Nigerian Premier League for falling foul of regulations. The Bayelsa-based club failed to honour four league fixtures, three of those consecutively. NPL regulations stipulate expulsion for any club which misses two consecutive matches. This is in addition to having all their previous results expunged.
Following a meeting of the NPL Executive Committee on Wednesday in Abuja, a decision was taken to expel the club.

Comedian ‘I GO DIE’ Denies Buying New Car:                                                                              One of the most viral gist making the rounds in the entertainment industry right now, is the news that ace comedian and humor merchant, Francis Agoda A.K.A I Go Dye, splashed an unimaginable N38 million naira on two exotic auto-mobiles; a 2012 Hybrid Escalade, (Platinum Edition) and a 2012 Range Rover Evoque. The news broke, when the widely travelled comedian spoilt himself a little with the Hybrid Escalade to commemorate his 18th anniversary on stage, while the next day marked the presentation of the Range Rover Evoque to his manager, Sharon to ease official duties of his Seaside Entertainment Company. But the comedian denies buying any new car.

China To Construct 3 City Markets For Uganda:                                                                                 China has agreed with the Ugandan government  to finance the construction of three city markets into modern markets at a cost of 500 million dollars. This was confirmed by the minister of economic monitoring Henry Banyenzaki while addressing traders of Nakasero market at Christ the King church. Minister Banyenzaki noted that China will give funds to Uganda on behalf of market vendors at low interest rate to enable traders to own properties like market malls. Banyenzaki further told traders that markets which include Nakasero, Kiseka and St, Balikudembe (Owino) will be constructed as government help traders in these markets securing the funds for the three markets.

WORLD NEWS: Canada Shuts Down Diplomatic Relationship With Iran:                                   Canada has closed its embassy in Tehran and has ordered all Iranian diplomats currently in Canada expelled. Canada has also declared Iran to be a state sponsor of terrorism. Saying, "Canada views the Government of Iran as the most significant threat to global peace and security in the world today," Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird announced yesterday that effective immediately, the Canadian Embassy in Iran is closed. All Canadian diplomats had left Iran prior to the announcement and all Iranian diplomats in Canada have been declared personae non gratae. They have five days in which to leave the country.

TECHNOLOGY NEWS: A New Search Engine called SMART to be launched:

A new type of search engine is being developed by a team of European researchers. What is different about this Internet search tool is that it draws its results from sensors such as cameras and microphones distributed around the world.

The new search engine is to be called SMART, which is an acronym for “Search engine for MultimediA Environment geneRated content”. The idea, according to Cordis, is that Internet users will be able to search and analyze data from sensors distributed around the planet.

Today In History: Today is World Literacy Day:                                                                     September 8 was proclaimed International Literacy Day by UNESCO on November 17, 1965. It was first celebrated in 1966. Its aim is to highlight the importance of literacy to individuals, communities and societies. On International Literacy Day each year, UNESCO reminds the international community of the status of literacy and adult learning globally. For over 40 years now, UNESCO has been celebrating International Literacy Day by reminding the international community that literacy is a human right and the foundation of all learning. The theme of International Literacy Day 2012 is Literacy and Peace. This theme was adopted by the United Nations Literacy Decade (UNLD) to demonstrate the multiple uses and value that literacy brings to people.   Literacy contributes to peace as it brings people closer to attaining individual freedoms and better understanding the world, as well as preventing or resolving conflict. The connection between literacy and peace can be seen by the fact that in unstable democracies or in conflict-affected countries it is harder to establish or sustain a literate environment

Shan George Denies Dating Mikel Obi:

Shan George knows she is cannon for controversies and is unapologetic about it. Recently, she was quoted to have said that most married Nollywood actresses are not faithful to their husbands, that they keep numerous lovers. that allegation was said to have rankled a number of her colleagues who felt scandalized by such revelations.
