President Muhammadu Buhari has sacked his Presidential liaison officer, Nura Rimi. Rimi was fired just five months after he was appointed into the post. No reason was given for the president’s decision, which has also not been officially announced. The sack may not be unconnected with the embarrassment Buhari suffered
at the recently concluded United Nations General Assembly in the United
States. Rimi coordinated Buhari’s itinerary, entourage and
facilitated most of the meetings that President Buhari attended in the
sidelines of the UNGA.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) have released
their first monthly oil and gas report as promised by the new General
Managing Director of the corporation Dr Ibe Kachikwu during a press
briefing. The report which is in PDF covers the activities of the
corporation for the month of January to August. It showcases activities
and financial transactions in the upstream, midstream and downstream
sector.

Following the rift with former Governor of Osun State, Olagunsoye
Oyinlola, over who chairs board of the Centre for Black Culture and
International Understanding (CBCIU), Nobel laureate, Professor Wole
Soyinka, yesterday, said he has resigned as the CBCIU Chairman. In a
statement, Soyinka said that he was frustrated and embarrassed at the

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has been named to lead a
33-nation observer mission to the Sunday, October 25, 2015 General
Election to be held in Tanzania. The Acting Permanent Secretary
in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Yahya
Simba made this known in Dar es Salaam, the Tanzanian capital, adding
that the mission will be made up of observers from Africa, Asia, the
Americas, Europe and the Pacific.

The Rivers State Government has presented a white paper demanding
the immediate prosecution of the former Governor Rotimi Amaechi and all
persons involved in what the government called fraudulent transactions. This is following the report of the 30-day sitting of the Justice
George Omeregi led Rivers State Judicial Commission of Inquiry, set up
