BUSINESS NEWS: Lacasera Shuts Down Operations; Sacks All Staff
Scores of angry workers of La Casera Company Plc staged a protest,
on Monday, in Lagos after about 700 workers received their sack letters,
the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported. The workers said they
are protesting because the company’s management responded to their
efforts at unionism by firing all of them. The company, however, described the protest as an invasion of its premises by ‘hoodlums.’

POLITICS: Buhari Excited on His Way to France for 3 Days Gigantic Visit
President Muhammadu Buhari will leave Abuja for Paris on Monday to begin a three-day official visit to France. The presidential visit was at the instance of President Francois
Hollande of France, during which they will discuss security and economic
issues, among other things. The President Buhari will be
accompanied on the visit by the National Security Adviser, Maj.Gen.

RELIGION / SAD NEWS: Nigerian Pilgrims Who Died In Mecca Crane Accident Will Be Buried In Mecca
Though the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria had earlier said only
three Nigerians died in the crane accident that occurred in a Mecca
mosque in Saudi Arabia on Friday, there seems to be a new twist to it
now has more bodies of Nigerians have been discovered among the dead
victims. According to the spokesperson of the Hajj commission, a total
of six Nigerians have been confirmed dead with four people still
missing.
POLITICS: OKOROCHA Eats Fried Turkey & Rice in TURKEY, Imo People Angry
The trip embarked upon by the Imo State Governor, Chief Rochas
Okorocha, alongside over 100 others to Turkey has crippled the
activities in the state in the past one week, even as workers and Imo
citizens have described the trip as wasteful and amounts to show of
insensitivity to the plight of the state civil servants who are being
owed several months of salary arrears. It was learnt that the governor is enjoying himself in Turkey, was offered fried Turkey & rice as dinner .
Investigations conducted by THISDAY showed that activities at the Imo
State Government House and state secretariat along Port Harcourt road,

ECONOMY NEWS: Banks to ‘CRY’ as Buhari Hardens Heart to Implement Treasury Single Account
Earlier in February, the Central Bank of Nigeria issued a circular
directing all deposit money banks to implement the Remita e-Collection
Platform. The Remita e-Collection is a technology platform deployed by
the Federal Government to support the collection and remittance of all
government revenue to a Consolidated Account domiciled with the CBN.
This marked the beginning of the full implementation of Treasury Single
Account (TSA) system in Nigeria.
