POLITICS: Governor Aregbesola And Ajimobi Reject 'His Excellency' Title -


The Governor of the State of Osun, Mr Rauf Aregbesola as well as Oyo State's, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, have both called for an end to the use of 'His Excellency' and 'Executive' to refer to the president, governors and other public office holders in the country. This was made known at the opening ceremony of the 45th Builders Conference of the Nigerian Institute of Building (NIOB), held at International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan, on Tuesday.
The governors described the 'His Excellency' affixed to names of public office holders, as an unnecessary ego inflater which transfers “unnecessary extraordinary powers to public office holders.”

CURRENT AFFAIRS: Enugu Govt Approves Three-week Paternity Leave & 6 Weeks Maternity Leave

The Enugu State Government has amended its Civil Service rules to grant six months maternity leave to nursing mothers. Interestingly, husbands whose wives might put to bed were also given a ‘paternity leave’, but it would only be for just three weeks. The paternity leave was meant to give such husbands the opportunity to support their nursing wives, according to the state government.Before, female workers who gave birth were entitled to three months maternity leave while the men whose wives delivered babies were not exempted from work. Similarly, the state government also resolved that henceforth, nursing mothers were free to breast-feed their babies in offices during work hours.
