CURRENT AFFAIRS: America 'begins Process' To Lift Arms Embargo On Nigeria

United States congressman Darrel Issah says the US government has already “begun the process” of relaxing or completely lifting the restriction on military assistance imposed on Nigeria under the Leahy Law. The Leahy Law is a US human rights law that prohibits the US department of state and department of defence from providing military assistance to foreign military units that allegedly violate human rights with impunity. Issah dropped the hint while fielding questions from journalists shortly after meeting with service chiefs and officials of the ministry of defence in Abuja on Monday.

POLITICS: Buhari Wants Islamic Books Included In Federal Schools' Curriculum

President Muhammadu Buhari has urged the Federal Ministry of Education to include two Islamic Studies books written by the late Justice Muhammad Bashir Sambo in the secondary school curriculum for all Federal Government Colleges. The president, who was represented by Governor Nasir el-Rufai, gave the directive in Kaduna at the weekend while launching the reviewed editions of the books which were first published in 1974. He noted that such books had become essential in the face of declining moral and religious values in the country.
