The senate on Tuesday rose from about two-hour executive session on Wednesday and announced the suspension of its planned process to override President Goodluck Jonathan’s veto on the Fourth Alteration Act 2015 which seeks to further amend the 1999 Constitution. Senate President, David Mark, who addressed the chamber after the closed-door session, said the senators as lawmakers, would always abide by the law of the land, since the Supreme Court had asked the federal parliament to stay further action on the document.

Heavy fighting over the control of affairs in Burundi is currently ongoing between soldiers loyal to Burundi president Nkurunziza and those loyal to the leader of the coup that overthrew the president yesterday, Godefroid Niyombare. According to reports, soldiers loyal to President Nkurunziza are in full control of the presidential palace, the national radio and TV stations, the airport and the centre of Bujumbura, Burundi's capital.
CRIME NEWS: North Korea Kills Defence Minister by Firing Squard for Sleeping on Duty
North Korea’s defence minister has been publicly executed with an anti-aircraft gun for falling asleep during military meetings and answering back to leader Kim Jong-Un, it has been claimed. Hyon Yong-Chol, 66, who was named head of North Korea's military in 2012, was killed in the capital Pyongyang by the unconventional firing squad on charges of disloyalty and disrespect. Han Ki-Beom, the deputy director of South Korea's National Intelligence Agency (NIS), told a parliamentary committee that hundreds of officials watched the execution in Pyongyang on April 30.
