POLITICS: Enugu Lawmakers Strongly Move to Impeach Governor Sullivan Chime for Stealing
Lawmakers in Enugu State on Monday morning began impeachment proceeding against Governor Sullivan Chime. He is accused of high handedness and corrupt enrichment. The state government dismisses the alleged plot to remove the Governor. The Governor’s spokesman, Chukwudi Achife, said Speaker Eugene Odoh, has been removed and a new Speaker elected. Reports from Enugu say that the governor had asked the state assembly to approve the funds for a secretariat project, but he was turned down by the state assembly.
2015 ELECTION: Abia State Governor-Elect, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu Bans Courtesy Visits
The Abia State governor-elect, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, has placed temporary ban on courtesy visits by his supporters. He said the ban would enable him to plan adequately for the task ahead. Ikpeazu, in a press statement personally signed by him, thanked Abia residents for voting him into power but pleaded with those jostling to pay him courtesy visits to give him some breathing space so he could prepare for the job he was elected to do.
