ELECTION DAY: Heavy Rain Disrupt Election Activities in Ogun and Lagos Stat

(Happened at Noon) There is heavy downpour in Lagos and Ogun State right now. The rain has disrupted election activities in these areas. Before the election, electorates were advised not to go with umbrellas to polling units as it is a symbol of a political party. ELECTION DAY: INEC Adopts Manual Accreditation Due To Issues With Card Reade

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Nigeria has adjusted the guidelines for the elections to address some of the challenges being faced during the accreditation process across the country. The chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee of the commission, Dr. Chris Iyimoga, told reporters that “where card readers fail to work, presiding officers can accredit voters by marking the voter register”. He also said arrangements will be made for voting to take place tomorrow in polling units where accreditation was suspended. The Department of State Service has uncovered plans by some persons to announce election results ahead of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, warning Nigerians and international observers to disregard any such announcement.

INEC Chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega says that results from today’s general election will be announced 48 hours after the elections have been concluded. So expect results on Monday March 30. POLITICS: INEC Postpones Election In 7 Federal Constituencies


The Jigawa Independent National Electoral Commission Friday night announced the postponement of election of House of Representatives in seven out of the 11 Federal Constituencies in the state. This was disclosed to newsmen by the Resident Electoral Commissioner Alhaji Haliru Tambuwel after a stakeholders meeting with political parties and security operatives. Tambuwel told Journalists that they had to shift the polls in the affected constituencies because of lack of ballot papers in four constituencies while three had inadequate ballot papers adding that the commission in the state did not receive ballot papers for Dutse/Kiyawa, Ringim/Taura, Hadejia/Kafinhausa/Auyo and Jahun/Miga Federal Constituencies
