….Today is NELSON Mandela’s 95th Birthday….

…Wish Him a Happy Birthday…

As Nelson Mandela lies critically ill in a Pretoria hospital, the world is preparing to celebrate his 95th birthday on Thursday, a day declared by the United Nations as a way to recognize the Nobel Prize winner's contribution to reconciliation.
Interest in Nelson Mandela International Day has ignited as a result of the former South African president's hospitalization in Pretoria and people find ways to honor his ideals.
A Johannesburg-based foundation named after Mandela and numerous other groups have asked people to volunteer 67 minutes to charity to match what they say are the 67 years that Mandela served his community. Mandela led South Africa through a tense transition from apartheid to democracy and became president in the country's first all-race elections in 1994.
President Jacob Zuma will mark the birthday by overseeing the donation of houses to poor white families in the Pretoria area, in line with his Cabinet's theme to commemorate Mandela's birthday this year by focusing on food security, shelter and literacy.
In Cape Town, labor activists are holding an event at St. George's Cathedral on Thursday, in remembrance of Mandela's years of service and to encourage people to donate food to charity while leaving messages of support for the former leader's family.
Mandela, who is in critical but stable condition, has been hospitalized since June 8, and hundreds of well-wishers have left prayers and messages of hope at his Johannesburg home and at the hospital where he is being treated. Legal documents have said Mandela's breathing is machine-assisted.
The anti-apartheid leader has also inspired artists and graphic designers who celebrate his life through paintings and posters.
A group of young South African designers created a poster project to offer a global perspective of Mandela with submissions from around the world. The group whittled down 700 posters submitted by designers from more than 70 countries, to 95 for each day of Mandela's life.
The posters will be unveiled Wednesday and a single special edition auctioned off to raise money for a proposed children's hospital that will be named after Mandela, the group said.
"He carries across this concept of humanity and selflessness," said Mohammed Jogie, co-founder of the project.
South African artists John Adams and Paul Blomkamp have painted two of the largest Mandela paintings to honor the man who spent 27 years imprisoned during the system of white minority rule known as apartheid.
Blomkamp said his painting was inspired by Mandela's energy, which he described as exceptional. Blomkamp said an image of his painting will be featured in a display in New York's Times Square Thursday in honor of Mandela's birthday.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY.

“Marriage Is The Last Thing For Me”
“Marriage is not for Everybody” Do You Agree?

Yoruba Actress Funke Adesiyan tells Journalist…

The actress is known for so many controversial reasons and of course her “BIG BIG” breasts.
Here is what the actress said in a recent interview about her relationship and plans for marriage.

Are you not thinking of marriage at your age?
Like I have always said and believed, marriage is not a must for me. Everybody wants to get married but everybody is not meant to be married. There are people who are not meant to be married but they force themselves into marriage, because someone else is married. You discover that you opt out in a few months and divorce.

Are you searching for the right person?
I am not searching for the right person, I am in a relationship with a great man. It does not mean that we will be married tomorrow or we cannot get married today. That is not what matters to me. Marriage is the last thing, what matters is being happy together. He’s happy with me and I am happy with him, so, that’s fantastic and fine.

For how long would you want to have the cards open?
Forever! I think one should live a life of being open. I think life is too short to say I am going to love you forever when you don’t know what happens tomorrow. Why don’t you leave it opened?

GUYS, DO YOU AGREE agree with Funke Adesiyan that Marriage is not for everyone?

“ I’m Not in Hurry to Get Married, I Don’t Even Have a Boyfriend”
…MTN Project Fame Winner –Chindima tells Journalist…

In this part of the world and continent, men take a domineering role in the family. The man is seen as the head of the family. Because of that, most men take responsibility of making provision for the family in every aspect.

Back in the days, the role of women in the family was limited to the kitchen and the farms, where they helped their husbands. But things have changed now as some women have assumed the role of men in the family and mostly give support to men in terms of providing for the upkeep of the family.

For female celebrities in Nigeria, one challenge they face is getting young men that would marry them as wives, which has made some of them end up marrying men that are married with kids.

Most young men tend to stay away from them because they feel female celebs, apart from their reported wayward lives, feel they (female celebs) are richer than them. And because of this, most young chaps stay away from them.

Speaking on the type of man she would love to marry, Chidinma Ekile, Nigeria's female singer and a former winner of MTN Project Fame said she would want a man that could take care of her needs and not the one she would feed.

According to her, “never, I can't date a man that doesn't have money, I can't feed a man.” The singer also disclosed that she is not in a hurry to get married but that she is not in a relationship at the moment.

HEY LADIES, Would you marry a man that you are richer than?

…300 Level Students Can’t Write Ordinary Letter …

---ASUU Strike Update….

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has decried the level of decay in Nigerian universities, saying 200 and 300 level students could not write simple letter. The Chairman of the Ahmadu Bello University, ABU, branch of the union, Dr. Mohammed Aliyu, said this yesterday while addressing a news conference in Zaria.

He said: “It is disheartening to note that students in 200 level, even 300 level, cannot write simple letter. This has shown how poor our education standard is.” Aliyu said the ongoing strike was not about salary increment, but to compel the Federal Government to honour the 2009 agreement with the union.

He said: “After three years of serious negotiation, government signed the October 2009 agreement with our union.

“The agreement was aimed at addressing the rot in the Nigerian university system and enhancing its overall efficiency. “The agreement focuses on funding requirements for revitalisation of the Nigerian universities, Federal Government assistance to state universities. “Progressive increase in annual budgetary allocation to education to 26 per cent between 2009 and 2020 and amendment of the pension/retirement age of academics on the professional cadre from 65 to 70 years.”

The chairman said after signing the agreement, both Federal and state governments developed cold feet, forcing the union to embark on a warning strike before proceeding on an indefinite action.

Aliyu said ASUU had tried to avoid another round of crisis in the university system by writing to the Secretary to Government of the Federation and the Minister of Education in February, reminding them of the pending issues.
