Well it happened when I was in New York and it was for work. I am not going to talk much on it but it happened when I was in New York, I did a photo shoot for a private magazine company and that is it.

This is very serious... MTN has removed all tariff plans and left only: MTN TruTalk and MTN Smooth Talk Plus from midnight yesterday as a result of NCC's arm twisting.

This may be good news to some and bad news to others but it is definitely bad news to me. So i have to pay more for calls instead of less and I have to pay more to browse.

Edeson Online News has learnt from reliable sources that the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has directed MTN to halt with immediate effect all it’s plans with the 10 kobo per second rates. According to a source, about 8 million of it’s subscribers on the affected plans (MTN iPulse and MTN SuperSaver plus) would be automatically migrated to other plans starting from midnight, 14th of July, 2013 to avoid NCC sanctions.

No clear reason has been put forward for the NCC directive, but my guess is that it has to do with NCC’s designation of both MTN and Globacom Nigeria as “dominant” players and as a result would be closely monitored to ensure that they were not using “anti-competitive practices” to stifle the competition. If that’s the case, It would be funny as that very reason gave birth to the new plans being scrapped yesterday.

From a reliable source, Edeson Online gathered that Chief Dokpesi threw caution to the wind as he stormed the studio even when the bulletin was still on and stopped the bulletin after which he lambasted Aruleba over this controversial interview which he said was in bad taste.
Sadly, Dokpesi followed this up yesterday evening by sacking Aruleba and Amarere, both are well-trained,talented and experienced broadcasters, went ahead and announced their sack in the 8pm news bulletin of last night.
If this is not a gag on free press,then fellow Nigerians must invent another word to describe this jungle justice in a democratic Nigeria.

One of Africa’s biggest media entrepreneurs has bowed to pressure and recalled two senior editorial staff whom he sacked in a fit of anger over the weekend.

High Chief Raymond Aleogho Dokpesi, Chairman of DAAR Communications Plc, operators of Africa Independent Television (AIT) and RayPower FM, had dismissed Executive Director Imoni Mac Amarere and popular presenter Gbenga Aruleba of FOCUS NIGERIA fame for featuring an interview with Lagos-based journalist and activist Richard Akinnola, on last Friday’s discharge and acquittal of Major Hamza Al-Mustapha, former Chief Security Officer (CSO) to late Nigerian military ruler, General Sani Abacha, in connection with the June 4, 1996 murder of heroine of democracy, Kudirat Abiola. Mr. Akinnola strongly condemned the appeal court verdict, calling it “a miscarriage of justice” of justice and a political judgment to pacify the North ahead of 2015 general elections in which President Goodluck Jonathan is expected to run.

Mr. Akinnola’s views rankled High Chief Dokpesi, whose business survives mainly on government patronage, and he promptly dismissed Amarere and Arulegba.

However, two days after the action, Dokpesi, according to a competent source, has accepted to recall the duo. “So many people intervened,” the source told News Express this morning.

Confirming the reprieve for Amarere and Arulegba, Mr. Akinnola himself wrote minutes ago on Facebook: “The matter is being resolved and Aruleba would be at his desk this afternoon to produce his program FOCUS.”

News Express can, however, not confirm if the recall of Amarere and Aruleba would be as speedy as Akinnola says since their duties have been handed over to a new set of staff by Dokpesi.

A friend of Aruleba who spoke with News Express said: “I spoke with Aruleba this morning and he said he had not been given sack letter but new people have been appointed to handle new for AIT.”

…2 contestants Have Left the 2013 Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria pageant…

22 year old Ujunwa Amanda Onwudilo representing Ebonyi State and 23 year old Ifunanya Nledo representing Gombe State have left the 2013 Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria pageant. According to a statement by the pageant organizers, Miss Ebonyi left for personal reasons while Miss Gombe was asked to leave for failing to meet with the stipulated requirements by the organisers, Silverbird.

This means only 32 contestants will be vying for the crown hosted by the Bayelsa State Government on Saturday July 20, 2013. Live event begins at 7.00pm.
