Hurray !

---Today is NGOZI OKONJO-IWEALA 59th Birthday---

Read her complete biography below:

Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala (born June 13, 1954) is a globally renowned Nigerian economist best known for her two terms as Finance Minister of Nigeria (her current position) and for her work at the World Bank.

Nigeria is indeed fortunate to have this globally acclaimed economist as head of the Finance Ministry. Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has consistently demonstrated incontrovertible leadership skills in various positions which she has held both locally and internationally. An amazon and a woman of many parts, Okonjo-Iweala has established herself as a colossus on the African socioeconomic landscape and a force to reckon with in the global community.

In the wake of economic reforms that are being implemented in the Nigerian polity, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has become a victim of slander and the target of verbal attack in its various ramifications.

The 2012 fuel subsidy removal triggered a nationwide riot which had Dr. Iweala in the cross-fire. She got the blame more than any other public servant, One Nigerian journalist said the orthodox economist had become an "anti-people person".

With the volume of vituperative statements and ill-informed public opinion against the Nigerian Iron Lady, one is inclined to believe that the sponsors of such statements are either being deliberately malicious or sincerely ignorant.

In a society where mediocrity is not only tolerated but also explained away, this world-renowned economist and celebrated achiever has risen through the ranks in her career and left indelible marks of performance and result-driven leadership.

According to The Independent (UK), Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala is a heroine, not just of Nigeria, but of the entire continent. Apparently, we don't value what we have until we lose it. Her global acclaim notwithstanding, Okonjo-Iweala has not lost touch with her roots.

In the words of the erstwhile EFCC chairman, Malam Nuhu Ribadu "Ngozi is known to always make things happen. She believes that hard work and honesty pay. Ngo is an unrepentant workaholic. She hardly leaves her office before 8 p.m. Even while leaving, she heads home with files to treat. Weekends are never free for this woman. She oscillates between one official engagement and another. It seems that the secret of her many achievements lie in hard work, hard work and more hardwork"

Her unassuming style belies her imperial pedigree, impressive portfolios and celebrity status. In fact, Iweala does not see herself as a celebrity. On the contrary, she is an all-inclusive public servant who will stop at nothing to ensure maximum compliance with established codes in her bid to achieve a vibrant economy while reducing poverty level to the barest minimum.

A trailblazer in many ways, Nigeria's first female Minister of Finance and first female Minister of Foreign Affairs is one woman who does not excuse laxity on the basis of gender differences. She is reported to have said, “I think being a woman makes you able to deal with a lot of things – and still keep sane. I also think women have less ego. When I became finance minister they called me Okonjo-Wahala – or 'Trouble Woman' but I don't care what names they call me.
I'm very focused on what I'm doing, and relentless in what I want to achieve. If someone's saying things to make me feel bad, I don't care as long as I get the job done. When it comes to doing my job, I keep my ego in my handbag."

That Okonjo-Iweala is a woman of integrity is another incontrovertible fact. The new fiscal discipline she brought to the nation's finances and her role in the cancellation of 18 billion US Dollars of Nigeria's debt to the Paris Club in 2005 is a milestone in our national history.

On the foreign scene, her work at the World Bank culminated in her nomination as one of three candidates for the World Bank Presidency in the historic elections conducted in April 2012. Undaunted by the outcome, she renewed her commitment to work for the benefit of the poor people of the world.

Listed as one of the 100 most powerful women in the world by Forbes, a leading source of reliable international business news and financial information, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala is a high performer and recipient of several awards.

In today's fast-paced world where success in the public arena is almost always synonymous with failure on the home front, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala stands out as a remarkable reference point. Despite being a celebrated public figure, Okonjo-Iweala has a rich family life. Beyond her several responsibilities as a leader and policy maker on the global scene, she fulfils her roles as a wife and a mother.

The Delta-born minister is like Saul of Tarsus, who has weathered contrasting seasons of life and consequently, has learnt how to abound and how to be abased. Her experience during the Biafran war in 1967 left an indelible mark on her mind as she came face-to-face with the harsh realities of life.

Obviously, such an experience would give one a graphic understanding of the plight of the poor who live from hand to mouth.

With her trademark traditional attire of printed cotton (popularly called Ankara), head gear and matching accessories, her identity as a Nigerian brand is unmistakable.

Happy Birthday to This Great Woman ...

Dancer, WADE ROBSON claims Michael Jackson Raped Him For Years…

….Michael Jackson is a pedophile and a child sexual abuser….

When Michael Jackson was alive, Wade Robson testified in his defense during his child molestation trial. Four years after his death, Wade is claiming he was sexually abused by Michael.

The popular Australian choreographer and former close friend of the late pop legend claimed last week that Michael Jackson sexually abused him from ages 7 through 14, when he regularly stayed at Neverland Ranch. He has filed a lawsuit against the Estate of Michael Jackson asking for compensation for years of abuse.

Wade appeared on the Today Show today and went into detail about his abuse. Wade told Matt Lauer:
"I've lived in silence and denial for 22 years and I can't spend another moment in that...."
"...Michael Jackson was yes, an incredibly talented artist with an incredible gift. He was many things. And he was also a pedophile and a child sexual abuser. He performed sexual acts on me and forced me to perform sexual acts on him."
Well, Michael isn't here to defend himself. And now he wants money?

…Bank Employee Sleeps on Computer Keyboard, Accidentally Transfers Millions…

An obviously tired German bank employee fell asleep on his keyboard and accidentally transformed a minor transfer into a 222 million euro ($293 million) order, a court heard Monday.

The Hessen labour court heard that the man was supposed to transfer just 62.40 euros from a bank account belonging to a retiree, but instead "fell asleep for an instant, while pushing onto the number 2 key on the keyboard" -- making it a huge 222,222,222.22 euro order.

The bank discovered the mistake shortly afterwards and corrected the error.
The case was taken to court by the man's 48-year-old colleague who was fired for letting the mistake slip
through when verifying the order.

The court ruled that the plaintiff should be reinstated in his job.
GUYS, what do you think?

…Abiola’s Wife To Run For Lagos Governor In 2015 -

One of the wives of the late MKO Abiola, the winner of the annulled June 12, 1993 presidential elections has announced her intention to run the affairs of Lagos come 2015.
Modupe Onitiri-Abiola told newsmen that her intention to run for the highest seat in Lagos was born out of her unquenchable desire to assist in the eradication of poverty from the state.
However, she is yet to name the party on which she will run.
Read Ontiri-Abiola's speech below:

'There should be no more poverty in this state or in this country. There is so much poverty and the situation on ground is extremely terrible, worse than what we thought it was at that time. But I am trying to look at what exactly is in the interest of the people.

What I am trying to do now is eradicate poverty and I know once you remove poverty, you remove everything and for you to be able to remove poverty, you need to have programmes. Some of these programmes include social welfare, free education, free health, affordable homes, good roads, providing for people that are not employed, helping people that are in business and who want to get into business.

When all that is put in place, you will eradicate poverty. Poverty should not exist in this country, not even in Lagos State'.

YESTERDAY was the 20th anniversary of the annulled elections, generally agreed to have been the freest and fairest in Nigeria, ever.
