The 34-year-old passed away yesterday, Wednesday 1st May at an Atlanta hospital after he was found unresponsive at his home.

According to information gathered from good authorities, Popular Yoruba actor and Glo brand ambassador, Odunlade Adekola, as he acted in ‘Sunday Dagboru’, recently threw caution into the air when he and his thugs allegedly beat up and eventually detained some students of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Investigation into the murder of a banker, Adindu Ohamara, who was stabbed to death by his alleged homosexual lover in Akoka, Bariga Local Council Area of Lagos State has started, the Lagos State Police Command has said.
DailyPost gathered that the deceased banker, who resides in a three-bedroom flat at 26 Obayan Street, Akoka with his elder sister, Flora and one Collins, an undergraduate of the University of Lagos was stabbed repeatedly by his lover.
It was learnt that trouble started for Ohamara, who was believed to be a homosexual and fond of bringing different men, when he decided to get married due to family pressure.
A resident, who craved anonymity, said after the banker had done his wedding introduction, a man believed to be a gay fellow stormed his home to fight him.
He said, ” Few weeks ago, Ohamara did his wedding introduction and shortly after that, one man came to the compound to fight him. There was a lot of noise over the issue before neighbors had to come to settle the matter.
“The unidentified man complained that he had been jilted and threatened to deal with Ohamara before he left in anger.”
DailyPost learnt that the banker returned home on April 9 with a man, who allegedly stabbed him at midnight and left.
According to police sources, hours before the incident, Collins went to Oharama’s room where he met the stranger sitting on Oharama’s bed, discussing with him.
A domestic worker in the house, who craved anonymity, said he saw the suspect fleeing with a laptop at midnight.
He said, “It was a Friday evening. Ohamara came home with the man and they went inside. I went to sleep but at midnight, I saw the man carrying a laptop and then he opened the gate and left. He did not run so I was not suspicious.
“Around 4am, Collins and Flora started shouting for help. A neighbor came to help them and they took him into his Toyota Camry and drove to a hospital.”
Information has it that Ohamara was taken to Jonken Hospital from where he was referred to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital Idi Araba where he was confirmed dead.
DailyPost investigation had revealed that the matter was reported at the Sabo Police Division but was later referred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba.
It was also learnt that the police later arrested all the adult occupants of the building, including the security guard, identified as Kazeem.
The policemen allegedly demanded N350,000 from each of the detained persons before they could be released.
The landlord of the property, Yemi Oketola, said the deceased had issued him two post-dated cheques as payment for his rent.
Oketola, on hearing about the arrest of his other tenants, visited the SCID and appealed to the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Damilola Adegbuyi, for their release.
He said, “I do not live in the house but immediately I got wind of the incident, I went to the SCID and I met with the DCP in charge. I complained that a neighbour, who took Ohamara to the hospital ,was
arrested. The DCP promised that my tenants would be released.
“When I went to see the Investigation Police Officer, he informed me that the cost of bailing each person was N350, 000. I called the DCP and he was very angry when he heard about the demand. He said he would make sure that the tenants were released.”
While confirming the incident, the Lagos state police command spokesperson, Ngozi Braide, who could not ascertain if the deceased was a homosexual or not said, “According to information I got at the SCID Homicide unit, there are only two suspects in custody, the deceased’s sister (Flora) and the UNILAG student (Collins). I am not aware of any other arrests.
“Also, I am not aware of any N350, 000 bail because bail is free. Investigations are ongoing and we will get to the bottom of it.” said Braide.

Soyinka Wins Anisfield-Wolf Award

The 1986 Nobel Laureate in Literature, Professor Wole Soyinka on Monday in America, won the Lifetime Achievement award of the annual Anisfield-Wolf Book Award.

The other winners are Andrew Solomon for Far From The Tree (Non-Fiction), Eugene Gloria for My Favorite Warlord (Poetry), Kevin Powers for The Yellow Birds (Fiction) and Laird Hunt for Kind One (Fiction).

This was the 78th edition of the award organised by The Root and sponsored by the Cleveland Foundation. Past winners include Derek Walcott, Toni Morrison, Nadine Gordimer and Wole Soyinka before they won the Nobel Prize.

Every year since 1935, the Anisfield-Wolf Awards have been honouring books and authors that “have made important contributions to our understanding of racism and our appreciation of the rich diversity of human culture.”

Cleveland poet and philanthropist Edith Anisfield Wolf established the book prizes in honour of her father, John Anisfield and husband, Eugene Wolf, to reflect her family’s passion for issues of social justice.

Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi has moved one step on world coaches ranking for the national teams for the month of April. Keshi is rated the 27th best national coach in the world and the fifth best in Africa despite his triumphant run at the last Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa.

Keshi, who has coached in Togo and Mali, finally made an impact with the Super Eagles when he won the Nations Cup, became the second African to win the trophy as captain and a coach after Egypt’s Mahmoud El Gohary, but all that failed to give Keshi a quantum leap on the world rankings.

Spain coach Vincente Del Bosque is the world’s best coach. While Joachim Lowe of Germany, Bert van Marwijk of Holland, Oscar Taberez of Uruguay, US-born Egyptian coach, Bob Bradley, Reinaldo Rueda Ecuador, Fabio Capello Russia, Morten Olsen Denmark Claudio Cesare Prandelli Italy and Venezuela’s César Farías make the world top ten coaches.

Keshi will come face to face with the Del Bosque and Taberez at the Confederation’s Cup June in Brazil.

At the continental level, Bradley tops the top ten ranking with Michel Dussuyer (19th) of Equatorial Guinea, Zambia coach Herve Renard (24th), Egypt legend Hassan Shehata (26th), Stephen Keshi (27th), Francois Zahoui (45th), Sami Trabelsi (52nd), Alain Giresse (53rd), Kinnah Phiri (63rd), Claude Le Roy (65th) and Rabah Saadane (66th) making up the numbers.

…Central Bank of Nigeria is Set To Introduce ATM That Will Be Paying Coins…

The CBN will introduce an Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) that can give out coins to boost Nigerians to learn the culture of spending it.This strategy was in line with the currency reformation implementation and the ATM for coins will accelerate the approval of coins by Nigerians and transform our mindset about its usage says Head of Shared Services at CBN, Mr Chidi Umeano.

“To accomplish this strategy, what is required is to enable the addition of a method called “add-on” to the ATMs.

“Fair enough, the current automated teller machines have the “add-on“ feature that will effortlessly make them become accustomed to coins supply, “ he said.
Head of Shared Services at CBN, Mr Chidi Umeano, said that the head bank would make sure that recently installed automated teller machine had the “add-on“ feature amongst others.

“It is actually possible to accomplish ATMs that will give out coins.
“This “add-on” feature can be triggered on the automated teller machines at any time by The Central Bank of Nigeria.

He said “ This plan is in line with our cash-less programme and also in consonance with the The Central Bank of Nigeria’s struggle to boost Nigerians to escalate coins.
