The Presidency on Sunday dismissed criticisms of the Goodluck Jonathan administration by the two main opposition parties, saying their national leaders-Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd) and Asiwaju Bola Tinubu were “heavily burdened political liabilities.”

Senior Special Assistant to Jonathan on Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe, told journalists at a news conference in Lagos, that the Peoples Democratic Party-led Federal Government would not be distracted by their ‘empty’ criticisms.

Tinubu had at the ACN convention in Lagos on Thursday, said “The current government’s trademark is to throw empty words and hollow actions at our problems,” while Buhari vowed that the All Progressives Congress would resist any move by the PDP to rig elections in 2015.

But Okupe said Buhari and Tinubu, the arrowheads of the move by the ACN, CPC and the All Nigeria Peoples Party to fuse into APC, lacked “the antecedent that support their claim of possessing what it takes to move Nigeria forward.”

He said, “It is evident that the proposed merger revolves around two personalities only, Senator Tinubu and Retd.- Gen. Buhari. Unfortunately, both are heavily burdened political liabilities. ”

The Presidential aide described the proposed merger as “incongruous alliance of political weaklings, ,dysfunctional Lilliputians and repeatedly frustrated political power mongers.”

He claimed that the promoters of the APC were desperate to “supplant the Jonathan administration, forgetting that one million giant ants can never muster the required strength to lift a concrete pole much less of a nationally entrenched pillar and structurally established institution like the PDP.”

The Ogun State-born medical doctor called the ACN a “motley assembly” lacking in internal democracy and “notorious for outsourcing” its presidential candidates from the PDP.

Noting that the ANPP “had existed for 13 years without any meaningful impact on the polity,” Okupe predicted that the APC would likely pick its presidential candidate from the rank of the PDP stalwarts..

He said, “It is noteworthy that the major plank of this motley assembly, the ACN, is notorious for outsourcing its presidential candidate from the ranks of the same PDP they gleefully villify.

“In 2003, their choice was Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, who now knows them better. In 2011, it was a protégé of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, who filled the slot although he was later betrayed and sacrificed on the altar of self interest.

“Presently, the debates within the factionalised alliance suggest that they will not mind fielding another PDP stalwart as their presidential candidate.”

Okupe said that the administration of Tinubu in Lagos State was characterised by labour crisis and that it did not at any time attain 60 per cent budget implementation.

He said, “The leader of the opposition, Chief Bola Tinubu, who spoke disparagingly about the Federal Government on a number of issues was once a governor of Nigeria’s richest state for eight years and we all have a record of what he made of that position.

“ Tinubu who spoke about meagre wages for public servants in Nigeria was known to have ignored calls of Lagos civil servants for a N7,500 monthly wage and when he eventually buckled to the pressure of Labour leaders, he wickedly sacked the arrowhead of the struggle in the person of Comrade Ayodele Akele, who was never re-instated.

“Yet Tinubu spoke of the present government as ‘heartless and mean that put the interest of small elite above the interest of the common working man and woman who are the backbone of this nation.”

On the National Chairman of the ACN,Chief Bisi Akande, he noted that when he (Akande) was the governor of Osun State, workers were denied N5,500 minimum wage.

He added that the Akande regime laid off over 9,000 workers during its four years in office

He said, “Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, who was then Nigeria Labour Congress President and now Governor of Edo State led workers on protest in Osun during the period but Chief Akande remained adamant. Where then is the credential of these people to talk about job creation, promotion of workers interest and democratic etiquette?.”

He also described the decision of two nominated members of the Amnesty Implementation Committee, Mallam Sanni and Alhaji Datti Ahmed, to reject their membership, as “shameful”.

Okupe said, “They wanted to do it as private citizens and take the glory. Some people feel because a committee has been established, their importance will be undermined.”

Arguing that corruption with over 50 years existence in the country would not disappear overnight, the SSA added that Jonathan overhauled the leadership of government agencies saddled with the responsibility and signed the Freedom of Information Bill in order to reinvigorate the war against corruption.

Faulting Okupe, the ACN National Publicity Secretary, Lai Mohammed, said, “Lagos State Government under Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu was the first state to increase workers’ salaries without them asking him. Osun State witnessed unrivalled infrastructural development during the tenure of Chief Bisi Akande, these records are there for all to see.”

The National Chairman of the ACN, Chief Akande, said that he would not dignify Okupe with a reply.

Speaking through his media aide, Mr Lani Baderinwa, the former governor advised the Jonathan administration to secure the lives and properties of Nigerians rather than engage in bickering.

“Okupe doesn’t need to be dignified with a response. He is an attack dog. He has enough problems of his own,” he added.

Also, the CPC through its Spokesman, Mr.Rotimi Fashakin, said “A hunter’s dog that is about to get lost forever will never hear the whistle of the hunter. This administration is about to get lost irredeemably.”

Babcock university just released the school fees for the next session which some students think it's outrageous but can't protest for fear of expulsion or suspension.

Others - N860,000 per session

Ridiculous! isn't it?

A Christian university that claimed to be a non-profit organisation. Anyway I blame it on the people that patronize them. There are Federal universities, state universities and even some private universities all over the country that are less expensive, but they chose this one.

How many accountants are paid more than N200,000 per month in this country? After paying 1million plus for a session in the university, you come out to be paid peanuts as salary, that's if you get a job.

---Ghanaian Man Marries His Sister After Impregnating Her; They Now Have A Daughter---

Despite caution and threats by several elders, 38-year-old Prosper Dzakpasu has refused to desist from sleeping with his sister. According to reports, the Ghanian man has been having SEX with his biological sister for the past 12 years and it's not a secret among family members.
Their mother has tried her best to stop the abominable act but Prosper usually gives her more than she could handle despite her age, saying he loves his sister, Cynthia and nobody can stop him...

He is the oldest of five children she bore their father while Cynthia is the last sibling. Their grandfather, who also intervened in the matter, had his fare share of insults from Prosper.

The other three siblings of the “couple” are troubled by the sacrilegious relationship. Prosper is said to have started sleeping with the sister, Cynthia, who is currently 29 years old, when she was about 17.

The relationship, which started gradually, has now blossomed into a union, as the two are now living at an area in Ghana known as Dzodze Ablorme. He left home with Cynthia after family members kept pressing him to stop the act.

Nothing was heard of them until about a year ago when they returned to their town with their six-year-old daughter. According to Daily Guide, “Prosper has now developed a thick skin and seem not to respect or fear anybody anymore. He knows that whenever you meet him or call him it is about his distasteful act and so he will not come and when he comes he will not mind anybody.”

Some family elders are however attributed Precious' act to a spiritual attack.

If you are not aware of this. There is a 24-year old Kenyan model who claims actor Pete Edochie is his biological father. Well you will get to hear more from him in this recent interview with a journalist.

Tell me a bit about yourself?
I’m 24 years old, raised by an awesome single mother, who I would gladly give an organ to. I am working so hard to live my dream which is to be the best in the world as an actor / model and a movie maker... I love life and have very fun-loving people around me. I always grow to be me and no one else.

How and where did you grow up?
All over, with my mum and my grand folks, in Kenya.

With your mum; how about your father?
Hmmm, I don’t know, I never met him.

Can you tell us why?
I can't …He is a magician ...had me and disappeared, so I can't tell much about him.

Aside Kenya, where would you love to live?
My father’s land ... Nigeria

Nigeria?
Yes, Nigeria! I learnt he’s a prominent and well known and respected actor in Nigeria from the South Eastern part of the country, as I am made to believe by my mum. That’s the little I know about him.

Are you sure?
My mum said so, in fact, he’s still very much an active participant in the industry.

Taking a closer look at yourself, who do you think your dad is?
Well, my mum said and I want to believe her that multiple award-winning actor, Pete Edochie is my biological father.

How sure are you?
I can't prove it; I only got wind of it last year.

Can you give us reasons why you can’t prove it?
Distance and lack of information from both of them, my mum and him, that is, my biological father, Pete Edochie.

But does your mum realise that you need to know who your true father is?
She does, she kept it away from me until last year when she told me about it. I was shocked.

Have you made effort to reach Pete Edoche after that revelation?
Yes I have, like any other man who might not be in the know about an existing biological child of his; he denied. Saying he has never been to Kenya in his entire life.

Through what means did you reach out to him?
My mum sent someone to him and the person return with his message that he said he never had any fling with anybody in Kenya because he has never been there in his entire life.

What was your reaction when he said that?
It’s either he’s lying or he has a twin brother.

This fact you have is not enough to call him your father….
There are talks here and there that he used to live in Nairobi in Kenya in a small town called Buru Buru.

What year?
1987-1988

Has it ever occurred to you that your mum might not be factual about this?
I believe my mother. She has always been there for me, I don’t see a reason why she would lie or hide any information about my father or paternity. This is not a matter to be joked with.

So she told you that Pete Edochie, Nigerian bearded actor is your father?
Yes she did.

Doesn’t your mother have a picture or something she can put down as evidence?
She was having a picture of the two of them together, according to her, she gave it to a friend to help trace him and that friend said he has misplaced the picture. Now you can see the critical situation I have been placed.

What surname do you bear?
Muriithi

How? That’s not a Nigerian name as you claim to have a Nigerian father…
Some other man took responsibility of bringing me up but he also left soon after my sister was born, but his mother brought me up that's why I kept the name. He’s a Kenyan.

Did this other guy too divorce your mum or just left like your dad?
Left, my mum was never married to any of them .

What attempt have you made to come to Nigeria and solve this riddle once and for all?
If a man wants nothing to do with me and I believe him to be my father, I also don't want much to do with him.

From the look of things, I guess only DNA can settle this paternity issue?
If he truly hasn't been to Kenya as he claimed and I take him through all that, he will hate me the more, so DNA test seems like a long thing right now. I want to believe that everything happens for a reason. I am made to succeed in life. I am not looking for money or anything from Pete, just his acceptance. But of what use is the success for a man to deny the paternity of his child. It’s cruelty and all of us shall meet to account for our various deeds on earth.

The burden now rests on your shoulders to press further on the paternity issue, since you know your mum is not making a mistake then you should stand as a man to unravel the mystery surrounding your birth.

May be this is how God wants it. In Kenya, I am a big name and I have followership but in God I trust. Thanks for your advice anyway

Lastly, what’s that secret desire?
I would love to be buried in Nigeria, the land of my father.

…Central Bank of Nigeria to Change N5, N20 and N50 from Polymer to Paper …

CBN is poised to stop the printing of small denomination Naira in polymer notes because they fade quickly.

Its Deputy Governor, Mr Tunde Lemo, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Washington on the sideline of the ongoing Spring Meeting of the World Bank and the IMF.

``By the middle of the year, we will start to produce the second generation of lower denomination notes, now in paper not in polymer.’’

``My plea is that Nigerians should exercise patience with us; it wasn’t the fault of the CBN, it was just because we had to go back to the drawing board to rethink `Project Cure’ in the light of the wish of the public that we should not go ahead with the N5000 notes and lower denomination.

``We will correct that in the course of the year. Polymer certainly will be phased out. In fact, we are phasing out polymer. No new note is being printed in polymer now.’’

Lemo told NAN that when the CBN was going to introduce the polymer currencies, its search showed that they could last longer than ordinary paper notes.

``However, with the benefit of hindsight, we probably should not have dumped polymer because, yes, the substrate lasts longer, but the in-consubstrate began to fade; we didn’t realise that at the time of introduction.

`` So, part of `Project cure’ actually was actually to move away from polymer substrate to paper, unfortunately we had a push-back because of the issues around N5000 note and coins.

``The entire program was put in abeyance, otherwise by now we should have stopped producing polymer.’’

He said that the CBN had awarded a contract for the printing of the higher denomination notes to a foreign company because of low capacity at the Nigerian Printing and Minting Company.

He said the CBN would begin to receive the fresh notes from June.

On the campaign on the careful handling of the naira, Lemo said that it was unfortunate that the campaign was not successful, but noted that it was a criminal act to abuse the naira going by the CBN Act.

``Unfortunately, CBN is not a law enforcement institution; we left that in the hands of the law enforcement institutions and that has not kicked in.’’

I still go to parties and see people spraying money, stepping on money, I see touts distributing mint-fresh money that should go to customers.’’

Lemo also told NAN that the CBN had talked to the police to step up its surveillance to reduce the abuse of the naira adding that the bank had no right to arrest people who sold the naira on the streets.

He said that the act of abuse and sale of the naira by touts had defeated the clean note policy of the bank, but assured that efforts were being made to tackle the problem.

…Two Months After The Institution Was Closed Down…

Ebonyi State Governor, Mr. Martin Elechi has announced the re-opening of the state owned Ebonyi state University, EBSU, Abakaliki.
This is coming nearly two months after the institution was closed down as a result of violent protests by students of the institution over tuition fees and provision of basic amenities.
Elechi, who announced this during a Radio/television broadcast at the State Broadcasting Corporation, EBBC, said it was done after due consultations with the University authorities.
On the controversial tuition fees, he said the fixing of fees payable in any educational institution is the exclusive responsibility of the management or, in the case of private institutions, the Proprietors of such institutions.
“It is not an agreement between the University management and intending students of the University; neither are the fees fixed arbitrarily to exploit anybody”.
“I have conferred variously with the security agents and the management of Ebonyi state University; we are all in agreement that the security situation has sufficiently improved to justify the re-opening of the University.
“That being the case, I have no objection to the University authorities deciding on the reopening date and on what terms and conditions the students may come back.
“The law enforcement agents are enjoined to ensure that no law-abiding students, lecturers or members of the public within the University environment, are molested, while, at the same time, making sure that all trouble-shooters are handled as appropriate.
“This administration will never treat with levity any situation that results into, or is likely to lead to, the breakdown of law and order.
“This is why government is very much concerned with what happened in our university, which led to its closure on the 27th day of February, 2013”, he added.
The Governor stated that EBSU among other institutions was still charging the lowest tuition fees in the South East geopolitical zone of the country, despite the state’s low level of revenue.
He said: “Consequently, where a state as poor as Ebonyi state, out of consideration for its citizens, venture to establish a university, it is not to be expected that the university should be run as a charitable organization. Even with our low level of revenue, our tertiary institutions are still charging the lowest tuition fees in the South East region of Nigeria, while at the same time; the state government pays the highest subvention to its University.
“It is hoped that those who have been identified by the law enforcement agents as intruders from outside, and/or destroyers of public property will face due prosecution in our law courts”.

…Nigerian teenager, Opemipo Jaji found guilty of rape, facing life imprisonment

A Nigerian teenager who attacked and raped an 11 year old schoolgirl in November 2012 has been found guilty of rape and facing life imprisonment in the UK. 18 year old Opemipo Jaji was under a supervision order for having child porn and had just left an appointment with the Probation Service when he followed the victim as she took a bus home from school, according to the UK Daily Mail.

Opemipo took the girl to Jubilee Park in Enfield where he repeatedly raped her for three hours. The court heard that the Nigerian Paedophile stuffed a school tie and gloves into her mouth to stop her screaming. But Opemibo denied being the attacker, telling police he had seen the girl on the bus but nothing had happened. "I am just not capable of doing something as despicable and heartless as this," he told the court.

Well, nobody believed him. Not only was the victim's blood found on his clothes, CCTV footage also captured him in the same bus with the girl, plus he fitted the girl's description of her attacker and he admitted he was at the park that evening but only to compose music. He was found guilty and will be sentenced in two weeks time.

…Fake Ghanaian medical doctor arrested in Lagos …

The Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria and the Health Facility Monitoring Agent, HEFAMA, Lagos State, has arrested a 28-year-old Ghanaian, Michael Akorful, for parading himself as a medical practitioner when he is not.
The suspect has been practising as a medical practitioner in a private hospital in Festac Town, Lagos until nemesis caught up with him last Wednesday after he gave wrong prescription to a patient.
According to Akorful, “I was in school in Ukraine but could not graduate and I ran away from the school because I was to be arrested for being a witness to a crime.
“One day, I went out to a joint with my friends where a fight broke out and somebody died in the process. The Police arrested the guy and was looking for me, so I ran away.”
On how he started practising, he said: “A friend of mine by name Obinna Uche, gave me the licence with which he was working to keep for him after he ventured into another business and when I ran away from school, I came down to Nigeria and began to practise with it.”
After interrogation, Michael admitted that he stole the licence from Dr. Abiwu Hilarious.
Dr. Henry Okwuokenye, HOD, Inspectorate Department of MDCN, who led the team said the licence was not given to Michael by anybody, adding that he lived with Dr. Hillarious for two months from where he stole his licence.
“From our investigation, it was revealed that he stole the document from Dr. Abiwu Hilarious Asiwome Kosi who resides in Ghana. When Michael came to us, he presented himself as the owner of the document and registered for our assessment examination that is done by all trained foreign medical doctors.
“He failed the examination twice and on the third seating, he passed and we gave him a provisional license. In the process of verifying his document, we discovered that his licenses were stolen from another doctor in Ghana and we contacted the Medical and Dental Council Ghana who gave us the relevant document and the real photograph of the doctor, who also wrote to us.
“Since then, we have been looking for him until report came to us that he mismanaged a patient, that was how we got his address.
