“Yesterday July 7 marked 15 years M.K.O Abiola died. He is the presumed winner of Nigeria presidential election in 1993. He died on July 7, 1998”

AND NOW, Below are some of the major news stories in the outgone week.
1. Over the weekend, 22 year-old Ezinne Akudo emerged as the winner of Miss Nigeria 2013 . She takes home N3 million cash prize.

2. Deeper Life General Overseer Pastor Kumuyi has offered to resign over son’s marriage scandal.

3. During the week President Goodluck Jonathan flagged off the re-construction and expansion of Lagos-Ibadan expressway which is estimated to cost over N200 Million naira.

4. African Union suspended Egypt following Army interruption of democratic activities in the country which resulted in the ousting of the president and the swearing in of an interim president.

5. Chief Justice of Nigeria decried the under-funding of the Nigeria Judicial Sector.

6. Governor Ibukunle Amosun pledged to disburse the sum of N250 million for unemployed graduates in Ogun State. 

7. 41 students were burnt beyond recognition in their hostel by gunmen  in Yobe State.

8. Brazil won its 3rd consecutive Confederations Cup after embarrassing Spain by 3 -0 in finals.

9. Nollywood actor, who is famous for his DADDY role in Television drama, “One Love”, Mr. Tony Umole died mysteriously. As at the time of filling this report, the cause of his death was still unknown. 

10.  On Saturday, Home based Super Eagles of Nigeria defeated their Ivorian counterpart by 4-1 in CHAN Qualifier match. 

11. At least 2 persons died and 5 persons were seriously injured as South Korean airplane crashed in San Francisco, USA.
