America to Become the World’s Biggest Oil Producer by the Year 2020::

U.S is to become the world’s biggest oil producer “by around 2020″, an International Energy Agency (IEA) report has said. The IEA said the reason for this was the big growth and development in the US of extracting oil from shale rock. U.S. energy policies initiated by the George W. Bush administration and implemented by President Barack Obama have moved the U.S. toward energy independence and away from Middle East energy sources. U.S. oil production has risen rapidly since 2008 and oil imports are at their lowest level in two decades.

Governor Rochas Okorocha Slashes Tuition Fee For Non-imo Students By 50%::

Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha yesterday announced a 50per cent reduction in the tuition fees of non-indigenes in state-owned tertiary institutions. 
The governor said his administration would pay the balance as an extension of its free education programme.

Report reaching Edeson ONLINE News said General the first daughter of former Head of State and national leader of Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) Gen. Muhammad Buhari (rtd), has died.
Zulai Buhari died yesterday in a hospital in Kaduna just two days after giving birth to a daughter. She was 40. She is survived by  her husband, Captain Mahmud Junaid and three children, including the new born baby who is said to be healthy and doing well.

Former President George H.W. Bush has been hospitalised in Houston while being treated for bronchitis. A source close to the family told NBC News that the 88-year-old had severe coughing and had been in and out of the hospital for the past few weeks.

House of Representatives threaten to order Okonjo-Iweala’s arrest over police pension

House of Representatives, yesterday, threatened to issue a warrant of arrest against the Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, over her refusal to honour invitations from its Committee on Pensions. Members of the committee also want the Finance Minister to explain her role in the take-over of Police Pension Fund and non-payment of pensions to retired officers and men of the Nigerian Police Force.

Bobby Kristina Involved in Another Car Accident

Bobby Kristina, daughter to the late Whitney Houston has been in another car accident which took place on, Wednesday. She has been cited by police in the accident in which the vehicle left the road. The police in the Atlanta suburb of Alpharetta said that a passerby called 911 to report the accident. The passerby reported a black Chevrolet Camaro which had veered off the road and traveled through a wooded area striking trees before eventually coming to a stop. “The investigation revealed the driver lost control and the vehicle left Beaver Creek Road on the east side and traveled down an embankment,” a police statement said.

A bill to correct some abnormalities in the Flags and Coats of  Arm Act of 2004, on Thursday in Abuja passed through second reading in the House of Representatives.

Nigeria will be sufficient in the production of tin tomato pastes by 2013 as production of Tomatoes will grow by 1000 per cent in Kano, the Central Bank of Nigeria’s Governor, Lamido Sanusi said.
Speaking at the 2012 forum of Bank Directors Association of Nigeria (BDAN) in Lagos, Sanusi said this feat was achieved from a model developed to revitalised the real sector of the economy and bring farmers into the financial inclusion programme.

Governor Danbaba Suntai’s Aides Return From German Hospital


Few weeks after they were flown to Germany to meet their principal and continue proper medical attention, two of the three aids to Governor Danbaba Suntai of Taraba State returned, Thursday. The two aides, Chief Detail, Joel Danladi, and Chief Security Officer, CSO, Tino Dangana, touched down at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Aiport, Abuja, at 4.40pm aboard a Lufthansa aircraft.


They were driven off at 5.10pm in a convoy of four cars.

The aide de camp, ADC, Dasat Iliya, the third of the governor’s aides injured when the aircraft being flown by the governor crashed on a flight from Jalingo to Yola, will return next week.

The CSO, who returned using crutches, stopped photo-journalists from taking shots and asked one, who had taken a shot, to delete it.

Director of Medical Services in the Government House, Jalingo, Dr. Ahmed Kara, told newsmen Governor Suntai and the ADC were doing very well at the hospital.

Arsenal to Train Coaches & Local Football Teams in Uganda

Arsenal FC has entered into a partnership with Airtel Uganda in which it will offer its services and train coaches and local football teams in Uganda in a bid to improve the football in the country.
The club will offer UEFA sanctioned tacticians to train youth teams in Uganda and coaches. While launching a three-year relationship with Airtel Uganda, Arsenal’s Partner Service manager, Gordon Tannock confirmed the news saying the deal was to help develop the football in the country.
Attending the launch were FUFA officials, State Minister for sports, Charles Bakkabulindi and Airtel General Manager, VG Somasekhar.
