Man arrested for attempting to bomb Ekiti State Govt House::

A middle age man was Wednesday arrested in Ado Ekiti by the police for an attempted bid to bomb Government House, the official residence of the state governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi.
The incidence happened barely twenty four hours to the judgement of the Supreme Court of Nigeria which is expected to deliver judgement on the case instituted by the former governor of the state, Engr Segun Oni, challenging his removal from office and subsequent declaration of Governor Kayode Fayemi as the validly elected Governor in the 2007 and 2009 elections in the state.

Nigerian Yoruba Actor Akin Ogungbe Is Dead

Reknown Yoruba actor Pa Akintola Ogungbe popularly called Akin Ogungbe DIES. According to reports from sources close to him, the veteran Nigerian actor who specializes in acting cultural movies died today at the age of 78. The death of Akin Ogungbe was confirmed by a reliable source in Ogun State in the afternoon. The source said he passed away early today after a brief battle with an age-related illness.

Nokia seeks Blackberry sales bans after patent dispute

Nokia has asked courts in the US, UK and Canada to block sales of rival Blackberry smartphones. It follows a patent dispute between the Finnish company and Blackberry's parent, Research In Motion (RIM). Nokia says an earlier ruling means RIM is not allowed to produce devices that offer a common type of wi-fi connectivity until it agrees to pay licence fees.

FRSC Regrets Tweet On BRT Bus Crash

The FRSC admits it gave false information as regards a BRT accident in Lagos.
The Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, has regretted a tweet from its handle, Monday noon, saying a fully loaded public transport bus, BRT, fell off the 3rd Mainland Bridge, Lagos.
The Commission’s spokesman, Jonas Agwu, said the tweet which was sent out from a Blackberry phone at 12:33pm Monday should be “disregarded.”

Olubiyi Odunaro, the 53-year-old former employee of Hallmark Bank Plc., protesting against non-payment of his terminal benefit, on Monday suspended his 14-day hunger strike.

Lagos State Goverment approves LASU governing council

Lagos State Governor Babatunde Fashola has approved the constitution of a new Governing Council for the Lagos State University. A statement from the office of the Head of Service on Tuesday said Mr. Olabode Agusto would be the board’s new Chairman and Pro-Chancellor.
Other members of the council are Mrs. Ibukun Awosika,  Mr. Leo Ekeh, Dr. Leke Pitan, Mr. Yomi Hotonu,  Prof. Shafideen Amuwo.
