Former Super Eagle's Goal-Keeper, PETER Rufai Has Been Hospitalized !

News making the rounds says Former Super Eagles goal keeper and captain, Peter Rufai, yesterday night suddenly slumped inside his office. The 49yr-old football icon, was rushed to Toki Hospital off Adeniran Ogunsanya, Surulere where doctors are doing everything they can to stabilize him. 
His younger brother Bruce Rufai said he's yet to come around and doctors don't know yet why he slumped. Bruce told sports journalist, Kayode Tijani, that Peter has been taking the death of their 78 year old mother badly since her passing some days ago. 

Police Arrest Three MONKEYS in Lagos for Stealing::

There was a mild drama at the weekend when the police at Ikotun Division, Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria, arrested three monkeys and their minders suspected to be Fulani he
rdsmen who were allegedly using the monkeys to breach public peace and to steal.

Police arrested the monkeys and their minders at the popular Ikotun roundabout. 
But the monkeys shocked the police and resisted being forced into the station. They stood at the entrance where they continued their usual demonstration and acrobatic displays. The policemen who arrested them became angry and threatened to shoot them.

The drama stirred up confusion because a large crowd gathered at the entrance of the police station to watch the moneys display. The Ikotun Police Divisional Police Officer, CSP Akika later came out of his office and intervened.

Museum devoted to music icon Fela Kuti inaugurated in Lagos


The family of the late musical icon Fela Kuti on Monday inaugurated a museum dedicated to his life at the site of his last house in Lagos as part of events celebrating what would have been his 74th birthday. The museum is not yet complete, but his family wanted to use the date — October 15 was Kuti’s birthday — to raise awareness of it. An annual range of events and concerts labeled “Felabration” is being held over the coming days.

Nigerian top star, D’Banj has been named the Best African Act of the 2012 MTV Europe Music Awards, having received the most votes from fans across sub-Saharan Africa. D’Banj who has previously won Best African Act at the 2007 MTV Europe Music Awards, Artist of the Year at both the 2008 and 2009 MTV Africa Music Awards, and Best International Act: Africa at the 2011 BET Awards will now compete against India’s Alobo Naga & the Band and Ahmed Soultan from the Middle East for the chance to represent the region in the Worldwide Act category. The representative for the Africa/India/Middle East region will be announced on Tuesday 30 October, along with the other regional winners from Europe, Latin America, North America and Asia

Writer Peter Berg accuses Romney of plagiarism

Peter Berg, the creator of the TV show "Friday Night Lights" is accusing Mitt Romney of plagiarizing from the mantra of the show for a slogan he uses on campaign posters, in speeches, and on his Facebook page. On Friday, Berg wrote a letter to Mr. Romney saying "he's not thrilled" by him using the phrase "Clear Eyes, Full Hearts, Can't Lose" because he stole it from Friday Night LightsThe AP reports. On the show, a football coach uses the same phrase to motivate and inspire his players before each game. "That's Americans," Romney said in Iowa earlier this week. "We have clear eyes-we know what we believe. Full hearts. We love this country and we can't lose," the NY Daily News reports. "This is a time for Americans to make a choice. We're going to take back this country."

Mo Ibrahim index rates Nigeria low in governance, gender issue


Nigeria has been ranked among the bottom 10 performers in terms of governance in the African continent, according to the 2012 Ibrahim Index of African Governance, IIAG, released yesterday, by the Mo Ibrahim Foundation. According to the report, despite improvements in governance in many countries, Nigeria along with other African regional powerhouses — Egypt, Kenya, and South Africa — have shown unfavourable governance performance since 2006. The report disclosed that over the past six years, all four countries had declined in two of the four main IIAG categories —  Safety & Rule of Law and Participation & Human Rights, stating that each of these four countries deteriorated the most in the Participation sub-category, which assesses the extent to which citizens have the freedom to participate in the political process.
